'Neath the cross we met
Over a map exchanging glances
Never dreaming we would
See those faraway places together
Fairytale beginning
Nightmare ending
You caught me off guard
And I reciprocated
You became my rock
In that rushing stream
And I clung to you
While I was drowning
You will never know
How you saved me then
Some wounds are too deep to be shared
And anyway it is far too late
All the while knowing we were doomed
I crossed the world for love
But came back again for life
I was drowning again
Saved by a friend
Who showed me the path
But I would soon forget it once more
I owe him an eternal debt
Of guilt and gratitude
You will haunt me forever
That cannot be changed
The past ever shapes us
We can but learn from history
I have learned to stand
Scarred and naked in the rain
Gaze upon me whosoever wishes
I shall not hide again
The shape of the man I am
And the man I shall one day be
My heart is split a hundred ways
None can claim but one piece
And though the shapes vary
The value remains the same
And accepting that knowledge
Shall empower some girl to
Exorcise you forever

(Disclaimer: As far as poems go, this is craptastic. Maybe one day I can polish it to something worthy, but I'm hoping the need will pass. It's an attempt at explaining some things to some one I can't ever explain them to. The second to last stanza holds a fundamental universal truth, though.)
